IT Analyst, Oyak-Renault A.?.; Bursa / 2003-present

  • Development and administration responsibility of a digital workflow system based on Microsoft’s .NET platform and SQL Server. Application design, development and reporting based on this system.
  • Development of database-driven applications extracting data from the corporation’s digital business intelligence (i.e. engineering, logistics and manufacturing) on J2EE and/or Microsoft Platforms.
  • Supervision of out-sourced local application development (J2EE & .NET), starting from needs analysis to writing specifications, GUI design, testing and deployment. Specifically test the efficiency of the code, resource management and on-time feedback.
  • Development of low-cost non-outsourced solutions in company-wide B2E operations such as employee portal on the local Intranet in Java programming language.
  • Data-mining, data analysis and reporting solutions using Business Objects based on specific databases from corporation’s central data warehouse.
  • Development of version updates to a workflow application for the internal use of the IT department developed with Java servlets & JSP deployed on Apache Tomcat on Solaris 8.
  • Training for the business units of other different departments on using Business Objects Reporter, a locally developed CMS software for editing web sites and some of the company’s own corporate applications.

  • Supervised the web development team in order to maximize the efficiency of operations and to ensure high quality results.
  • Research and development: market study, vendor selection, feasibility analysis, adaptation of tools & new technologies to address specific needs and issues.
  • Coordinate tech support from foreign software-maker for imported products.

Results: Speed-up in operations, made the company one of the first provider of CMS services in Bursa leading to comparative advantage, boosted the popularity of the company's own web site (higher page rank, increased traffic thanks to SEO know-how) leading to a boom in business enquiries over the web.

  • Internet based marketing and sales (not e-commerce). Coordination and outsourcing of IT functions compensating for the non-existence of an IT department.

Results: Expanded the company's operations which was initially stuck to Germany and Austria to Francophone markets and others such as France, Romania, Italy, Canada, Russia, Israel, etc. for the first time.

Marine soldier - Turkish Navy Dept. of Navigation, Hydrography and Oceanography; Çubuklu, ?stanbul / 2000

Designed the web site of the department from scratch ( http://www.shodb.gov.tr ). Undertook the responsibility of the electronic publishing and distribution of their weekly publication "Notices to Mariners" and organized ranking officers to adapt to work in this new way.

Mac OS Support (part-time), Bilkom A.?; Ankara / 1998-1999

  • Out-sourced by Apple's IMC Bilkom to provide support to the developers of a cross-platform (Mac & PC) educational software development project of HALICI a software maker based in Ankara.

Results: First acquaintance with the Microsoft Visual Studio (PC only) vs. Metrowerks Code Warrior (Mac & PC) and the challenges of porting MFC-based classes to the Mac platform as well as how Java 1.1 differed on Sun Solaris, Windows and the Mac.

  • Worked as a support technician at an authorized Apple reseller and support center during under-graduate studies in Bilkent University.

Results: On field experience and basis for the knowledge of what users need and what kind of problems may occur in the life of average computer users and what the most efficient and swiftest way of solving them is.
